Mexican actress Kate del Castillo is rumored to have requested access to all sensitive information gathered about her by the government in its ongoing probe of her connection to alleged Sinaloa drug cartel leader Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman.

Several media outlets have described the requests Del Castillo has made of sitting federal judge Augusto Octavio Mejia Ojeda as "unconventional."

Del Castillo Met With El Chapo While he was Still a Fugitive

The 43-year-old Del Castillo has been under investigation ever since it was revealed that she secretly met with El Chapo while he was still a fugitive after escaping from the maximum security Mexican prison where he was being held.

Word is attorneys for Del Castillo insist that her demands are aimed at stopping the press from leaking information related to case. Just last month, Del Castillo failed to appear for a court hearing in her native Mexico for the second time since proceedings commenced.

In a previous ruling, the judge ruled Del Castillo's official filing seeking access to the requested information "lacked precision and was non-argumentative."

The judge is expected to render his decision on all the requests during a ruling scheduled for May 25.

Del Castillo Denies Receiving Money From El Chapo

In recent interviews, Del Castillo has sternly denied rumors that she has previously received money from Guzman to launch her own tequila brand.

Del Castillo and Academy Award winning actor Sean Penn both met with Guzman while he was on the run in a meeting Del Castillo insists she thought was for the purposes of discussing the making of a biopic about his life.

Penn has insisted he never displayed any interest in being a part of any movie script and was motivated to meet with Guzman for a feature story he was working on and ultimately had published by Rolling Stone magazine.

Guzman is now being held at the same Mexican prison that he escaped from and faces the prospect of being extradited to America to face an array of drug trafficking charges.
