Several well-known celebrities, including Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong'o, actors Wilmer Valderrama, Rosario Dawson, Bobby Cannavale, Tom Colicchio, Alan Cumming and musicians Akon and Miguel, got together to voice their support of immigration in the United States.

The stars are all part of a new PSA and campaign, released on June 1, called #IAmAnImmigrant. The campaign is in honor of Immigrant Heritage Month, which begins in June.

In the PSA, the actors, who identify as or support immigrants themselves, share why they think immigrants are a crucial part of American society and history.

"Every time we get to say out loud that we are immigrants," says Valderrama. "I think it's important that we embrace that opportunity."

Each star was also photographed, by director Cary Fukunaga, wearing a t-shirt decorated with the phrase "I am an immigrant" to help show their support.

Also showing support and spreading the word about the campaign is the cast of Hulu's "East Los High," a series that focuses on the lives of Latino youth and is made up of a diverse Latino cast and production team.

The show's official Twitter account shared a link to the #IAmAnImmigrant campaign, along with a photo of the cast wearing the t-shirts.
