Pop star Rihanna is joining “Bates Motel” Season 5 as the fictional character Marion Crane from the show’s 1960 film “Psycho” and the novel about a serial killer. Crane’s head is chopped off in the novel and in the movie she is brutally stabbed. What will happen to Rihanna’s character in the upcoming “Bates Motel” fifth season? How will Norman (Freddie Highmore) kill her?

Rihanna in Bates Motel

The “Work” singer confirmed the rumors about her appearance on “Bates Motel” via the A&E Twitter Account where she put together a quick video from her dim-lit bedroom.

“Yes hello Comic-Con it’s your girl RiRi and let me tell you what a bad b*** is about to do. I’m about to check into the Bates Motel very soon. Guess what else? Guess who’s playing Marion?” Rihanna says into the video. “Yes. So all you Comic-Con fans, ‘Bates Motel’ fans, stay tuned.”

Rihanna is mostly known for her music but has also made appearances in movies such as “Battleship” in 2012, and was the main character of the 2013 animated film “Home.” Her music is played on the Soundtrack of numerous films.

Marion Crane Backstory

In the film “Psycho,” Marion Crane is unhappy with her boyfriend and decides to skip town after her boss gives her $40,000 to put in the bank. The real estate employee steals the cash and runs into the Bates Motel while trying to leave town.

When she checks into the hotel, Norman asks her to dinner and then gets into a spat with his mom for letting a strange woman into the house. When Marion goes back to the room, Norman spies on her through a hole in the wall from his office.

He later kills her while she is taking a shower.

Norma in Bates Motel

In previous episodes, Norma (Vera Farmiga) makes Norman kill his victims when he hallucinates about her. But now that she is dead and no longer showing up in his thoughts, how will Norman make the initiative to kill?

One speculation is that she will appear in his hallucinations again since Norma plays a major role in the A&E popular series. Another speculation is that Norman will completely lose it after his mother’s death and go on a killing spree during his grieving process.

He dug her body up from the grave and glued the eyes open just to speak to his mom again. Once the body starts to deteriorate and it hits him that his mother is really gone, there is no telling what Norman will do.
