The recent trailer for Fast and the Furious' eighth installment certainly brought a different plate to the table. Now titled 'Fate of the Furious' (or F8 of the Furious), the trailer shows Dom betraying his "family" and is now sided with what the film calls a "high-tech terrorist".

Scheduled to be part of the spring blockbusters (along with Logan, Beauty and the Beast and Pirates of the Caribbean, to name a few), this new entry is certainly shaking things up for the franchise. Dominic, played by Vin Diesel, has established himself in the series as a guy who protects those close to him. It would be unexpected for him, then, to ram Luke Hobbs' vehicle (played by Dwayne Johnson), who has now become part of his "family", and effectively leaves them.

He is next seen discussing with a mysterious woman, played by Charlize Theron, and works for her organization.  As Slash Film reports, the team, composed of Libby (Michelle Rodriguez), Roman (Tyrese Gibson), Tej (Ludacris), and Hobbs, is now tasked to stop Dom in his footsteps. Added to the team is Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw, which puts the team on an interesting chemistry. The trailer ends with an attack on the team's base, and Theron's character kissing Dom in front of his wife Libby.

After the box office success of Fast 7, this upcoming movie wants to prove that it can continue the energy. According to Forbes, while a big factor of its success was the untimely death of Paul Walker, making the movie a must-see, this time the production is going guns a-blazing, with cars, tanks and even a submarine. The plot, while definitely an attention-grabber, is shared by another movie slated for spring, Transformers 5. It would be interesting on how the story plays out for Dom and the rest of the guys, and if the "family" will be together again at the end.

Fate of the Furious will hit the theaters in April 14 2017.
