Knives out is a murder-suspense movie where Ana de Armas plays a role as a caregiver. De Armas was born in Cuba and is not an immigrant to the United States of America. She plays the character named Marta Cabrera who is a shy caregiver.

In the movie, The character of Ana de Armas had developed a special bond with her employer who, get this, dies. The story tells that Marta Cabrera's body reacts negatively whenever she lies. She vomits whenever she tells a lie. So, her character needs to be silent to not "spill" the truth that she had known from her employer.

Marta was not invited to the funeral of her former employer. The treatment of the rich towards her had shown a realistic setting not only being a maid, but also as an immigrant.

In the movie, Latino immigrants in the United States of America are easily replaceable and the rich were also disrespecting her for her heritage. The rich also talked about her originating country. Some of the countries mentioned by the group were Brazil, Ecuador, Uruguay, and Paraguay. All of which are Latin American countries. The Thrombey had expressed their admiration for the physical beauty of Marta.

Due to their unearned financial wealth, they threatened Marta to report her mother's immigration position in the United States of America if she does not tell what she knows.

One of Marta's allies in the story was the black sheep of the family named Ransom who was played by Chris Evans. It was later found out that Ransom was only using Marta to his advantage.

The movie had also shown the current situation of immigrants in the country where immigrant children are being detained for being undocumented immigrants in the country. These undocumented immigrants are also experiencing racism.

Beatriz and Marta are both caregivers. The two had shown great strength and power for fighting against oppressors for their name and dignity. They are setting an example for immigrants to fight for their rights as humans and believe in their strength. Their bond also inspires immigrants to cooperate in fighting for what they believe in.

Marta's character was specifically written by Johnson as a very honest and least ostentatious character in a collection of extravagant and colorful characters. This was shown during a flashback of her and her mother's life before she was hired by her already passed-away employer.

De Armas' role had showcased heroism towards the immigrant community in the United States of America. She had portrayed her character to strongly showcase intense kindness, respect, empathy, flexibility, and high-value for the life of people.

The character of Ana De Armas as an undocumented child of a single mother will touch the hearts of its viewers who may relate to her story such as those who are also like her, have a family like her, or have friends who are like her.
