A former fellow inmate of Chris Watts revealed that the woman who was having an affair with the convicted murderer when he murdered his family had contacted the killer dad in prison.

The inmate who met Chris Watts at a Wisconsin prison where the Colorado man is serving multiple life sentences told Daily Mail that Nichol Kessinger wrote to Watts under her new name.

According to CrimeOnline, David Carter, the former fellow inmate of Watts, said Kessinger, who has been living in hiding, had contacted Watts sometime or before September 2020. Carter said it was Watts who shared this matter with him.

He also said that Chris Watts told him that Kessinger contacted him to clear some things up. However, Carter noted that Watts did not tell him what exactly Kessinger had said.

Watt's former fellow inmate is no longer incarcerated in the state of Wisconsin and appears to have been transported to a different correctional facility in February 2021.

Carter said Chris Watts still writes him letters, which is photographed in one of the pictures posted by Daily Mail. The letters that were handwritten by Watts repeatedly mentioned Jesus, referencing his renewed faith.

Carter also said that Watts was not supposed to have any contact with Kessinger, but she initiated writing to him. Carter noted that prison officials learned about these interactions and subsequently suspended the murderer's email account and started examining his mails.

In 2019, Watts told his pen pal Cheryln Cadle that he was still in love with Kessinger, and he believed that some of the letters he received were from her writing under different names.

American Murder: The Family Next Door

Chris Watts murdered his pregnant wife, Shanann Watts, and their two children, four-year-old Bella and three-year-old Celeste, in August 2018.

Watts pleaded guilty to the crimes in November of the same year. Watts said he took his wife and their kids' bodies to an oil site and buried them after killing them.

Chris Watts is currently serving a total of five life sentences in prison as Shannan's family did not seek the death penalty in the case.

Watts was reportedly in a relationship with Nichol Kessinger before committing the hideous crime. The pair met at their job at the Anadarko Petroleum Corporation in Colorado in June 2018.

Chris Watts allegedly lied to Kessinger when they met. He told her that he was in divorce proceedings with his wife at the time. He also refrained from telling Kessinger that his wife was pregnant with their third child.

After Chris Watts made the guilty plea, Kessinger was not able to speak with the media, and her whereabouts remain unknown.

Nichol Kessinger earlier said that she had left Colorado and started a new job. However, she noted that it would be hard for her to go out in public "for years" due to abuse and slander.

Some reports said that authorities placed her in a witness protection program because of these, and she was given a new name and identity.
