Brad Pitt Wins Joint Custody Over Their Children

The custody battle revolved around five of their minor children including Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox. Maddox is not included in the custody since he is already a legal adult. The custody will allow the former couple to split time with their children.

An anonymous source told Page Six that the trial lasted for several months and involved a long list of witnesses, including experts, therapists, and "other people who have been with the kids and around them."

The ruling that was made by the private judge hired by the former couple was a blow for the actress since Jolie is seeking sole custody over their children. Wonderwall pointed out that Jolie wanted Brad Pitt to have only supervised visits with kids arguing that the Oscar-winning actor was not a suitable parent for their children.

The court document obtained by US Magazine revealed that Angelina Jolie's testimony "lacked credibility in many important areas." Because of this, the judge overseeing the case decided to modify the custody order between the parties as per the request of Brad Pitt "in the best interest of the children."

Angelina Jolie Sought to Disqualify Judge in Custody Battle Against Brad Pitt

Just a day before the ruling of joint custody was served, Angelina Jolie criticized the judge overseeing their case for not letting their children testify.

Associated Press noted that the actress also argued that the judge has failed to "adequately consider" a section in the California courts code elaborating that it is harmful to the children to have child custody awarded to someone who has a history of domestic violence. Brad Pitt was accused by Angelina Jolie's side of being abusive towards Maddox during a flight from France to the United States. No charges were brought against the actor.

"Judge Ouderkirk denied Ms. Jolie a fair trial, improperly excluding her evidence," said a court filing adding that the evidence was vital to the children's safety, health, and welfare. The filing did not further on the said "evidence" which is deemed to be important in Jolie's case.

Meanwhile, Bradd Pitt's legal defense retaliated arguing that Judge Ouderkirk "conducted an extensive proceeding," that is in a thorough, and fair manner over the past six months.

Peter Harvey, Angelina Jolie's lawyer who is close to the case but not directly involved argued that the actress supports the joint custody between her and Brad Pitt. Jolie and Pitt were known as Hollywood's most prominent couples for at least 12 years.
