The love story of Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton started with a long stare battle that made the former first lady finally decide to walk over to the former president and introduce herself.

Hillary told Bill that time, in 1971, that if they were going to keep staring at each other, they ought to know at least each other's names, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Since then the two started dating and got married in 1975. Bill and Hillary met while they were both studying law at Yale University.

In her third memoir titled "What Happened" published in 2017, she said marrying Bill and taking on Clinton's name was "the most consequential decision" of her life.

Hillary has been scrutinized numerous times for sticking by her husband, with some calling her "weak" or cold." Former President Donald Trump even labeled her "an enabler" during the presidential campaign.

In a documentary, Hillary said the characterization of her marriage with Bill "has been a continuing source of curiosity and bewilderment."

The 42nd president of the United States has been reported to have been involved in several affairs, with former lounge singer Gennifer Flowers publicly announcing that she had been one of Bill's mistresses.

Flowers said she had been Bill Clinton's mistress for 12 years, with the affair starting in 1977.

Lewinsky noted that she was not considered a victim back then, adding that she "danced around the victim language a lot."

Lewinsky said her consent did not make her former boss' actions acceptable since it was wholly inappropriate. She then took note of her age at the time, which was 22, and Bill was 49 years old when the affair happened.

The Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinski affair gained attention with the start of the #MeToo movement, which had publicized sexual harassment cases, including Jeffrey Epstein's scandal. It has also been reported that Bill has had a friendly connection with Epstein, who was a convicted pedophile.

In 2014, Lewinsky wrote in Vanity Fair that Bill Clinton had taken advantage of her but that it was a "consensual relationship." Four years after, she wrote for the same magazine, questioning whether the consent was relevant given the power imbalance between an intern and a president.
