A short video of former NBA player Delonte West, which has now gone viral, reportedly showed him panhandling on the streets.

According to Clutch Points, a fan randomly saw West walking on the streets holding a sign that seemed to ask passers-by for some cash.

The fan called West and engaged in a bit of a conversation. Another picture of West is also circulating on social media, revealing that the former NBA Mavericks player is currently in Virginia.

West was supposedly trying to make a comeback in the basketball scene, with the former Saint Joseph's standout reportedly trying out for Ice Cube's BIG3 league a few months back. However, it seemed that did not work out for him as expected.

Delonte West on the Streets

MARCA News reported that Delonte West had previously been spotted doing the same until Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban picked him up from a gas station and got him help.

West was arrested for banging on the lobby doors of the Boynton Beach Police station while he was intoxicated. He later started making a push to play in the BIG3 League after several stays at rehabilitation clinics.

West has struggled with addiction for years, including throughout his eight years in the colleague. He used to play with Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James when both of them were still playing for Cleveland Cavaliers.

West signed a $12.8 million contract with the Cavaliers in 2008. He was a shooting guard during his two seasons in Cleveland, averaging 12 points per game in his first year.

In 2019, speculations that West was homeless started to spread after images of him wearing dirty clothes and looking disoriented began to spread, according to Hot New Hip Hop.

Cuban earlier said they have tried to help West many times before. West has taken Cuban's offer to pay for him to get checked into a rehabilitation center in Florida.

West joined in several activities to help him detox while at the rehab. The former NBA player was seen horseback riding and looked healthy in an image shared by Cuban.

West was making such good progress that he was offered a job at the rehabilitation center where he was receiving help.

A documentary about West's life is in the works. It will focus on the struggles he has overcome throughout his life. However, the said documentary has had a setback.

Delonte West played in the NBA decades ago, where he was part of the Dallas Mavericks team for the 2011-12 seasons. He also spent time in the Chinese Basketball Association and the G League, where he spent two stints with the Texas Legends.

Delonte West last played professional basketball of any kind in 2015. According to Fan Sided, West has faced various difficulties during and after his NBA career, including economic instability, substance abuse, and mental health issues.

G League gives those on the cusp of the NBA the opportunity to play up for a chance in the league.
