Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is getting married soon, as she announced her engagement with her longtime boyfriend, technology consultant Riley Roberts.

She confirmed her engagement via Twitter last month and has been spotted with an engagement ring on her finger.

Ocasio-Cortez is one of the most prominent House Democrats currently serving in the House of Representatives.

The fiery Latina of Puerto Rican origin is known to be a member of "The Squad," a group of non-white female Democrats in Congress, as well as leaning more to the left.

Many targeted her for her socialist views, and she has been regarded as a socialist boogeyman in right-wing media.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Riley Roberts Met in College and Have Been Dating for a Long Time

The New York congresswoman sat down with Vogue magazine in 2018 and described her would-be fiancé as an "easygoing redhead."

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez met Riley Roberts while attending college at Boston University. She said they met "in true nerdy fashion" during a weekly Friday-afternoon conversation hosted by the dean at BU.

She then noted that Roberts would move from Arizona to be with her. While Ocasio-Cortez has been a very vocal public figure, becoming one of the most high-profile Democrats in Washington, Roberts has remained a very private figure.

He liked to keep quiet and has been described as a "philosopher" type. A friend of the couple has said that when the camera is on her, the very private Roberts will step out of the way.

Despite being a very public figure, the congresswoman has also managed to keep her life with Roberts under wraps. Marie Claire reported that their relationship was so low-key that some of their friends did not even know that they had been dating until several years after graduating from college.

Who is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's Fiance, Riley Roberts?

While Riley Roberts is often media-shy, he has appeared on various posts by his high-profile fiancée. Like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, he is also a graduate of Boston University.

Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, he graduated with a dual degree before becoming a tech consultant. According to Marie Claire, his now-defunct LinkedIn page stated that he was the head of marketing at HomeBinder.com, which helps people manage the maintenance of their homes.

He has also worked as a tech consultant for various startups and helped them grow using marketing and development.

Unfortunately, even if he kept a low profile, that did not stop right-wing media from also attacking him. In February, a conservative podcast host claimed that Ocasio-Cortez was paying her boyfriend to be part of her staff and used a picture of Roberts' email as evidence.

However, the congresswoman shot this down, saying that Roberts obtained an official House email address so he could have access to the congresswoman's Google Calendar. According to Ocasio-Cortez, it is not uncommon for congressional spouses to have access to their partner's Google Calendar.

It seems that the fiery Latina's family also approves of Riley Roberts. In a 2019 interview with Daily Mail, Ocasio Cortez's mother, Blanca, could not stop gushing about Roberts, stating that she loves him and that the two should get engaged.

The New York representative revealed that they got engaged in her family's hometown in Puerto Rico. They have not yet released any details about the marriage ceremony and have not "dived into" wedding planning yet.
