Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez called his rival Gennady Golovkin, also known as "GGG," an a**hole ahead of their upcoming boxing match in September.

Speaking to TMZ Sports early this week, Alvarez called the Kazakhstani boxer an "a**hole" who talks too much.

"He's not honest. He pretends to be a good person and be different but he's not," the Mexican boxer noted.

Alvarez added that GGG is a flat-out two-faced person who "talks a lot of s*** about" him. The boxer went on to say that Golovklin would say that "he respects him [Alvarez] and his career," among other things.

Canelo Alvarez then noted that GGG was "an embarrassing boxer, he's embarrassing for Mexican boxing... I hate that motherf***er because of that."

Canelo Alvarez Opens up About His Grudge With Gennady Golovkin

In a recent round table interview in Manhattan, Canelo Alvarez explained why he disliked GGG. The Mexican boxer noted that his animosity toward Gennady Golovkin stemmed from the "disparaging comments" made by GGG in the past.

Canelo did not specify which comment was that. However, Boxing Scene reported that it was when he tested positive for the performance drug clenbuterol, a banned substance, ahead of his second match with the Kazakhstani boxer.

"Come on, I told you, it's not meat... Canelo's team are using these drugs and everybody's trying to pretend it's not happening," Golovkin said in 2018, adding that Alvarez knows it because this "is not his first day in boxing."

According to Alvarez, GGG's comment made him look like he was dishonest, a cheater, and a farce. The Mexican boxer noted that Golovkin talks a lot about him behind his back.

"Then when you show up, in front of the cameras, [he] don't say what [he] said before," the Mexican boxer added.

Although Alvarez admitted his animosity toward GGG, he did not deny that Gennady Golovkin is one of the best boxers.

Earlier this week, GGG told TMZ Sports that he knew how Alvarez Canelo felt about him, but he believes it was because the Mexican boxer could not handle his honesty.

Gennady Golovkin vs. Canelo Alvarez

Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez are set to have a boxing match on September 17, which was announced by the Mexican boxer himself during his gold invitational in Naucalpan, Mexico last May.

According to Boxing Scene, the match between the two boxers will take place in T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Canelo Alvarez said he would settle the beef he and GGG have in their upcoming bout.

"My goal is to end this fight before the 12 rounds," Canelo said. The Mexican boxer also expressed his desire to have a second fight with Dmitry Bivol.

However, currently, Canelo Alvarez said he is 100% focused on his fight with Gennady Golovkin, adding that it will be a "dangerous fight."
