Police are investigating a shooting incident in Loveland, where a man invaded a home and shot a Colorado mom and her teen daughter before he turned his gun on himself to commit suicide.

Police were alerted to the incident after the victim's two children, ages 12 and 14, called 911. The two hid inside their house after the shooting happened.

According to People, the Larimer County Coroner's Office identified the victims as 41-year-old Lindsay Daum and 16-year-old Meadow Sinner. Both suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

A GoFundMe page has been launched for their family. The gunman was later identified as 49-year-old Javier Acevedo, who was Daum's former husband.

Police Dispatched After Colorado Mom's Children Called 911

The Loveland Police Department released a statement regarding the incident. They said the first officers who arrived at the Pavo Court home at around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday immediately encountered the 14-year-old caller and the eldest daughter, Meadow Sinner, who was one of the two people shot.

Police attended to her and tried to save her. However, the teen later died from her injuries. Police also found the other children who were hiding inside the house as well.

The youngest, age 2, was hiding in the backyard while the 5-year-old was standing at the top of the stairwell. The youngest child was safely removed and handed to a sergeant as the police started their search.

One of the two callers, the 12-year-old, was found hiding in a lower-level bedroom closet. Police said they also found Daum, but the Colorado mom was already dead.

Authorities then searched for the shooter and found him at 600 Grimson Place in Erie. The suspect was declared dead shortly after officers arrived. Police said Javier Acevedo died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest, and his death was ruled a suicide.

Colorado Mom's Ex Was an Abusive Husband

According to ABC 7, Javier Acevedo had two different protective orders against him, each filed by two different women. One of the women also has a permanent restraining order against him, which was issued last June. Five kids are also listed under those restraining orders.

Acevedo also had a criminal past, with various charges that included child abuse, sexual assault on a child, and at least one drug charge. Unfortunately, the Colorado mom will be leaving behind four children. They will be cared for by Daum's 72-year-old mother.

Meadow Sinner was supposed to become a junior at Mountain View High School, according to ABC 7. The school's principal, Jane Harmon, sent a letter to the community stating that their hearts go out to the teen's family and said she was a treasured member of the community.

Her teacher, Kristi Thompson, spoke about Sinner and said she was outspoken and ready to give her opinion at any moment. She added that losing her felt like she also lost a child and was going through all the emotions that grief brings.
