A recent voting poll reveals that California residents do not want incumbent President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump to run for office in the upcoming 2024 elections. Instead, California Governor Gavin Newsom and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis are gaining national attention for their broad strokes on their respective parties.

President Biden's approval ratings remain low in California, and so does conservative voting preference for Trump's possible third bid for the White House.

California Survey Shows Trump-Biden 2024 Rematch Unlikely

In the latest University of California - Berkely Institute of Government Studies poll, it was revealed that voters are souring on a Joe Biden-Donald Trump rematch in the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.

President Joe Biden might not expect California's help to win again in the next election as the number of voters opposing his White House bid grew to 61%, with only 31% agreeing.

Republicans strongly oppose his return to the Oval Office at 87%. On the other hand, Democrats are split in the middle at 46%.

Meanwhile, the State of California is even more against Donald Trump's attempt to return to the presidency; 64% of voters strongly oppose his bid, with only 25% supportive should he continue.

Based on the IGS poll data, it is unlikely that a Biden-Trump 2024 rematch would be supported in the state. This is because they prefer newer candidates like the incumbent governors of California and Florida.

IGS Poll Wants CA Governor Gavin Newsom and FL Governor Ron DeSantis

Although he has repeatedly denied that he would not be gunning for the White House, Governor Gavin Newsom's broad actions and recent voting preferences beg to differ.

Over the past few months, there has been growing chatter that the California Governor would likely challenge President Joe Biden on the Democratic party seat.

With Biden's declining approval ratings, Governor Newsom's aggressive policymaking was said to bolster his chances of party support.

In the recent survey, Governor Gavin Newsom emerged as the top choice of all California registered voters. At the same time, he is tied with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders on the list of Democrat-only voter preferences.

Vice President Kamala Harris, in her home state, only had 10% of the voting population's support.

Over to the Republican Party, President Donald Trump was still the top choice to run for president, despite the 71% opposition. However, if he opted out of the race, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would take the overwhelming lead against former Vice President Mike Pence.

Governor Ron DeSantis was widely considered to be Trump's only formidable candidate in the party. Results show that 53% of registered Republicans in the state would vote for him if Trump would not be running.

However, the Berkely survey only serves as a birds-eye-view on the upcoming 2024 presidential campaign. As of this writing, both President Biden and former President Trump have not officially announced if they would be vying for the commander-in-chief position again.
