Documents from Mexico's Ministry of Defense (SEDENA) revealed that Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as "El Mencho," is sharing control of the notorious Jalisco cartel with his two brothers.

In a classified "urgent" report dated August 11, 2022 that was leaked by "Guacamaya" hackers, the National Guard's 14th Battalion in Jalisco state said El Mencho is still the head of the Jalisco cartel.

However, the document acquired by Milenio revealed that his brothers Antonio Oseguera Cervantes, alias "Tony Montana," and Abraham Oseguera Cervantes are also now in command of the cartel.

The report also showed that some of the relatives of El Mencho and his brothers became the criminal group's regional coordinators and plaza bosses.

Among them were Guadalupe Moreno Carrillo, the current partner of El Mencho, and some of their children, such as Jessica Johanna Oseguera Gonzalez.

Known as "La Negra," Jessica Johanna was released from a U.S. prison earlier this year after being jailed for over 25 months on money laundering charges.

The National Guard also said in the report that there are currently 45 "capos" of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel who remain at large, and authorities still do not know the faces of 15 of them.

However, the military noted that they do know how they operate and what areas they control.

Jalisco Cartel Operations Are Crossing Borders

The leaked documents said the base of operations of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel or Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacion (CJNG) is still in Jalisco.

According to the August 11 report, the 45 cartel operators who were still at large were operating on the state's coast and the mountains.

Citing the military documents, the Borderland Beat reported that  the non-capture of these alleged criminals has caused the operations of the Mexican drug cartel to cross borders.

The U.S. government has reportedly denounced the increase in border clashes and heavy drug trafficking, which began in 2018.

According to the National Guard, the Jalisco cartel also maintains an alliance with the Los Cuinis, its elite armed wing led by Ulises Yovani Mora Tapia, alias "El Yiyo," who is wanted by the DEA for drug trafficking.

El Mencho Operating the Jalisco Cartel in Mexico

The Jalisco cartel is being blamed for the bulk of cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, and other illegal drugs transported into North and South American countries and some regions in Asia and Europe.

But apart from drug trafficking, El Mencho's group also earns millions from fuel theft and arms smuggling. The Jalisco cartel has established its presence in at least 20 Mexican states, including Mexico City.

El Mencho reportedly prefers to use Pacific routes to move tons of drugs, importing cocaine from Colombia and ephedrine from China through Manzanillo port in Colima.

The Mexican drug kingpin once served as a police officer in Cabo Corrientes and Tomatlan in Jalisco. However, he left the police force to continue his drug trafficking activities and join the Milenio Cartel before becoming the head of the Jalisco cartel.

The U.S. government has already offered a $10 million reward for information leading to El Mencho's arrest. The Jalisco cartel boss remains one of the world's most elusive criminals.
