Texas Governor Greg Abbott recently wrote to President Joe Biden to urge more drastic action to curb the state's high rate of US illegal immigration.

The letter sent to President Biden accuses the government of ignoring the massive and ongoing influx of illegal immigrants into the U.S.-Mexico border in southern states on purpose, per Fox News.

Abbott stated: "Your inaction has led to catastrophic consequences. Under your watch, America is suffering the highest volume of illegal immigration in the history of our country. This past year, more than 2 million immigrants tried to enter the country illegally, coming from more than 100 countries across the globe."

He also informed Biden that the United Nations organization had just concluded that the land crossing between the United States and Mexico is the worst due to the flawed U.S. border policy.

Texas Governor Gregg Abbott Directs DPS and TMD to Combat U.S.-Mexico Border Crisis Using All Available Strategies

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Texas Military Department (TMD) were directed to increase their unheard-of efforts on Wednesday to stem the tide of unauthorized immigrants along the US Mexico border in Texas, according to Office of the Texas Governor website.

The Governor emphasized the need for the Operation Lone Star partners, defending Texas against what would equate to an invasion of America's southern border in a letter to DPS Director Steve McCraw and TMD Adjutant General Thomas Suelzer.

Through Operation Lone Star, DPS officers and Texas National Guard soldiers have repelled and turned back historically large numbers of immigrants trying to cross the U.S. border illegally.

The letter states that the responsibility for border security rests with Texas Guardsmen and Troopers "until Congress acts or the Biden Administration does its constitutionally required job."

"You must continue to keep Texans and Americans safe and protect against an invasion of the southern border. I order you to use all resources and tools available to repel immigrants from attempting to cross illegally, arrest those who cross illegally and return them to the border, and arrest criminals who violate Texas law," the letter read.

Texas Governor Gregg Abbott Posted a Plan of Action on Twitter Before Sending Out Letters

In a tweet, Abbott called upon the Invasion Clauses of both the United States and Texas Constitutions to provide Texas with the authority to take all measures necessary to repel an invasion earlier on Tuesday, the day before he prepared and mailed the letter.

However, it is unknown if asylum seekers are included in the plan to send back migrants across the border using the National Guard and the Texas Department of Public Safety, Daily Mail noted.

In addition to building a wall in several border counties and dispatching gunboats, he wants to declare Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist groups, which only the federal government can accomplish.

Abbott has advocated forming security "compacts" between nations and "entering into agreements with foreign powers to enhance border security."

He made similar remarks to county courts on the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas on Monday, promising to use the clause and take executive action.

In total, "Texas has devoted more than $4 billion of Texas taxpayer dollars toward these and other efforts to secure the border and enhance public safety," as stated in the letter.

As of last month, 230,678 reported encounters took place between unlawful migrants and U.S. Border Patrol officials. This is a rise from September, although a slight one.

Over the last fiscal year, more than 2.3 million undocumented immigrants have been arrested along the southern US border.
