Paul Pelosi's attacker, David DePape, who attacked the elderly husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi with a hammer inside their San Francisco home, will be tried on all charges, a San Francisco Superior Court judge ruled.

DePape appeared in court on Wednesday in an orange prison jumpsuit. He remains held without bail, as he is facing severe charges, including attempted murder, burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, attacking a family member of a public official, and elder abuse. His most serious charge is premeditated attempted murder, according to KRON-4.

Superior Court Judge Stephen found that the San Francisco District Attorney's Office has enough evidence against the Paul Pelosi attacker and ruled that the case should move to trial.

DePape's defense attorney did not dispute that it was his client who broke into the Pelosi home and attacked Paul Pelosi with a hammer, even if police warned him to put the hammer down.

Paul Pelosi Attacker David DePape Says There Is 'Evil in Washington'

A piece of evidence that prosecutors have shown was an interview conducted by San Francisco police investigator Lt. Carla Hurley, who testified at Wednesday's hearing and talked about her interview with DePape.

The investigator revealed that the suspect, who was radicalized with right-wing propaganda and conspiracy theories, told her that there was "evil in Washington," and this led him to stage an attack at the Pelosi house in San Francisco.

"There is evil in Washington, what they did went so far beyond the campaign," the suspect told her. According to the Associated Press, the investigator also stated that DePape admitted to why he chose Pelosi as his target, and that was because she was second in line for the presidency after Vice President Kamala Harris.

In her testimony, Lt. Hurley stated that Paul Pelosi was not part of his plan but warned him, "I can take you out, I can take you out."

When the police arrived, he reportedly told the victim, "I'm not going to surrender, I am here to fight. If you stop me from going after people, you will take the punishment instead."

When asked about the judge's ruling, his attorney, public defender Adam Lipson, declined to comment and stated that they will be fighting this case in the court and not the hallway.

David DePape Also Targeted Tom Hanks, Hunter Biden, Governor Gavin Newsom

During the hearing, Lt. Hurley also testified that DePape had a "hit list" of various people, both in politics and show business. She testified that DePape admitted who were the other people on his hit list.

According to the Los Angeles Times, his other targets included actor Tom Hanks, California Governor Gavin Newsom, and presidential son Hunter Biden.

The interview itself was played on a court, with DePape admitting to the plot, saying, "I'm not trying to get away with this," he said. "I know what I did."

In that interview, he also accused Democrats of tampering with the Trump campaign and spouted other conspiracy theories.

However, while he admitted to attacking Paul Pelosi, DePape still pleaded "not guilty" to federal and state charges levied against him.
