The Manhattan DA's hush money payment case is not the only legal problem Donald Trump has, as he is also facing a big case regarding the top-secret documents found in Mar-a-Lago. Now, it seems the Justice Department has evidence that he obstructed the probe.

The Washington Post was the first to report that the Justice Department, Special Counsel Jack Smith, and the FBI have gathered "fresh evidence pointing to possible obstruction by former president Donald Trump in the investigation into top-secret documents found at his Mar-a-Lago home."

Emails and text messages from a former Trump aide have been obtained by investigators, according to people with knowledge of the situation who spoke to the Washington Post on the condition of anonymity.

This new evidence noted that after the subpoena was delivered, Trump looked through the contents of some of the boxes of documents in his home and wanted to keep certain things in his possession. Investigators suspect that Trump had boxes that included classified material be moved from a Mar-a-Lago storage area after the subpoena was served.

While some documents were returned, the report also suggested that Trump personally examined some of those boxes to keep certain documents.

A later FBI search found over 100 additional classified items that the Trump team did not turn over. This led to the FBI seeking judicial authorization for the raid, which was soon granted, leading to the raid in Mar-a-Lago.

Evidence Show Donald Trump Telling Others to Mislead Government Officials Before the Subpoena

According to Reuters, investigators from Special Counsel Jack Smith's office also have evidence indicating Trump told others to mislead government officials in early 2022. This was when the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration was working to recover documents from Trump's time as president before the subpoena was even filed.

Trump may have also misled his own lawyers about his retaining classified materials. If this is found to be true, attorney-client privileges invoked by his attorneys could be pierced, and they can be compelled to testify against him.

To this day, Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in his mishandling of the classified documents found in his Florida home.

Donald Trump Planning to Make Public Remarks After Being Arraigned in New York

While his documents case is brewing, Trump has now been indicted in New York thanks to his hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported that the former president will hold the event at his Mar-a-Lago club after returning from Manhattan, where he will be arraigned. The former president is expected to turn himself in voluntarily; though, after this, he will try to "project an image of strength and defiance and turn the charges into a political asset to boost his 2024 presidential campaign."

Trump has turned the indictment into a money-making cause for his campaign, having already raised millions since news of the indictment dropped. Like his documents case, the former president also denies any wrongdoing despite all the evidence.
