Elizabeth Olsen is reportedly Director Joss Whedon's choice to play the role of Wanda Maximoff, more famously known as the Scarlet Witch in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

According to a report by Bleeding Cool, Olsen was not the initial choice for the role but Saoirse Ronan. However, citing an unnamed source, the site claimed Ronan reportedly passed up the Scarlet Witch role prompting the director to look for another actress to play the part.

Although there has been no confirmation from Olsen, Marvel Studios or Director Whedon, rumors about Olsen landing the role has been circulating cyberspace.

Elizabeth, who is the younger sister of twins Mary Kate and Ashley, first started acting at the age of 4. According to IMDb, the younger Olsen has starred in several films including Peace, Love and Misunderstanding, Martha Marcy May Marlene, The Silent House, Red Lights and Liberal Arts.

This year, she has starred in two more films: Very Good Girls, where she plays the role of Gerry; and Kill Your Darlings, where she plays the role of Edie Parker. She will also be seen on Oldboy, Therese, and the 2014 film Godzilla.

Should Olsen play the role of the Scarlet Witch in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, there is a great possibility that she will be playing alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson who is rumored to play the role of Pietro Maximoff, also known as Quicksilver. Quicksilver is the Scarlet Witch's brother who possesses incredible speed. Both villains are the children of Magneto from X-Men.

Taylor-Johnson and Olsen are also doing the 2014 film Godzilla together. According to a report by MSN, Taylor-Johnson is rumored to play the role of Olsen's on-screen love interest in the film.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron is set to start production in the earlier months of 2014 says Zap2it.
