Florida Governor Ron DeSantis's presidential campaign for 2024 may be experiencing more financial problems as more job cuts have been reported. This comes as the controversial Republican continues to struggle in the polls against frontrunner Donald Trump.

DeSantis campaign advisers have confirmed these jobs cuts, which amounted to 38 people being fired from various departments from the campaign. This includes the around 10 event planners who were all fired previously, as well as two senior DeSantis campaign advisers, Dave Abrams and Tucker Obenshain.

"Following a top-to-bottom review of our organization, we have taken additional, aggressive steps to streamline operations and put Ron DeSantis in the strongest position to win this primary and defeat Joe Biden," said Ron DeSantis campaign manager Generra Peck, who added, "Gov. DeSantis is going to lead the Great American Comeback and we're ready to hit the ground running as we head into an important month of the campaign."

Politico pointed out that this is the latest sign that the DeSantis campaign is suffering from financial concerns despite raising $20 million during the second quarter of this year. However, it seems that a good chunk of that money has already been spent as the governor toured the early voting states like Iowa.

Around the end of June, the DeSantis campaign had over 90 staffers listed in its federal filings. This means that roughly a third of all its staffers have been fired already as the campaign tries to get more finances.

Peck acknowledged that the DeSantis campaign did do a bit of overspending in some areas and said that further financial adjustments must be made., So far, DeSantis has been criticized for his bloated operation, and his campaign now plans to "reduce costs by doing smaller, more intimate events and cutting down its travel expenditures."

Ron DeSantis 2024 Campaign Burned Through Massive Amounts of Money in Just 6 Weeks

Some of DeSantis's big donors have reached their donation limits, with his campaign already tapping out many of them. In addition, he also burned through $7.9 million in his first six weeks as a presidential candidate per NBC News.

DeSantis actually outraised rival Donald Trump in April-June 2023, but his overspending landed him in financial trouble. To make matters worse for the controversial governor, a vast majority of the money he raised came from the big donors who have reached their maximum legal limits to political donations as DeSantis lags behind Trump in terms of the small donors who can provide a much-needed boost to his finances.

Ron DeSantis Still Top Challenger to Donald Trump Amid Financial Troubles

Despite his money troubles and recent racial and immigration controversies, however, Ron DeSantis remains the top Republican candidate that is challenging Donald Trump right now. This is shown by the numbers they have put up from their campaign donations.

According to NBC News, only North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum earned double digits for his campaign thanks to a $10 million loan from a businessman. As for the others, big Wall Street donors have spread their support between DeSantis and others like Mike Pence and Nikki Haley. They have yet to unite around a big non-Trump candidate.
