A Texas teen, claiming to be the cousin of the Uvalde school shooter, has been apprehended in San Antonio following allegations of making threats against a local school, according to News 4.

Legal documents reveal that the teenager's mother informed authorities that the suspect had expressed intentions to replicate the actions of his cousin, Salvador Ramos, the perpetrator of the mass shooting at Robb Elementary in 2022.

The suspect, 17, conveyed these alarming intentions to his sister, who subsequently informed their mother, leading to her decision to contact law enforcement.

The mother cited several reasons for her concerns, including the fact that her son is currently on probation, had been under the influence of alcohol when he made the threats, and that their residence is near an elementary school.

Further adding to the apprehension, the mother disclosed that she overheard a phone conversation where her son discussed procuring an AR-15 rifle through an illicit private transaction.

The teen's sister also recounted an incident during which she gave her brother a ride. While in her vehicle, he allegedly threatened to shoot her in the head and proclaimed his intent to "shoot the school."

The sister found these threats to be credible, given their family's recent history and the suspect's apparent knowledge of his cousin's actions.

Texas Teen Lives Across the Street From the School

The family's residence was situated directly across the street from an elementary school, as disclosed in the documents, the Daily Mail reports.

The Texas teen, Nathan Cruz, had recently remarked, "School is starting soon," contributing to the concern raised by his family.

Given their familial link to Salvador Ramos, the Uvalde shooter, the family deemed the threats articulated by Cruz as substantial and credible.

The Texas teen, presently under probation, although the specifics remain undisclosed, was taken into custody on Monday and subsequently booked into Bexar County Jail.

The charges against him include a felony charge of making a terroristic threat to the public and another charge of making a terroristic threat to a family member.

As of now, no details regarding the amount of the bond have been made available.

The Uvalde School Shooting

The arrest of the Uvalde shooter cousin has transpired over a year after the most devastating school shooting in US history in May 2022.

On that fateful day at Robb Elementary School, a heart-wrenching toll was exacted, claiming the lives of fourteen children and a teacher.

Uvalde Memorial Hospital CEO Tom Nordwick noted that their emergency room received at least 13 injured children.

Customs and Border Protection agents swiftly responded to the scene amid the chaos. Tragically, one of their agents sustained a gunshot wound to the head, surviving the ordeal.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott disclosed that two officers were also wounded as they engaged in gunfire with the shooter. Thankfully, the injuries sustained by both officers were not life-threatening.

Ultimately, Salvador Ramos, the Uvalde shooter, met his demise when an off-duty Customs and Border Protection agent shot and killed him.
