Donald Trump is accused of ducking his Republican opponents, particularly former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, after the ex-president announced he is skipping the Republican debates. The ex-POTUS is not just getting ridiculed by the left for not participating in the debates, but also other Republicans.

Former Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger, who now works as a senior political commentator for CNN after leaving Congress, suggested on Monday that Trump is "scared to death" of Chris Christie and noted that the former prosecutor and New Jersey Governor would "wipe the floor with him" during Wednesday's debate if he ever does join.

According to Mediaite, Kinzinger also blasted Trump for leading the Republican party to a string of election losses, saying, "He lost for the Republicans, the presidency. The Republicans have done nothing but lose since Donald Trump, and so I think if he's gonna ask for their vote he needs to come in front of them again and explain why this time, instead of being a loser, he'll be a winner. But he's not gonna do it."

The former congressman then called Trump a coward for ducking the debates and added that Christie would be pointing out Trump's cowardice during the first Republican debate that is scheduled to happen on Wednesday.

Instead of appearing at the first debate, Trump will be sitting down with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson for an interview, which will be shown at the same time as the debate. The former president has also indicated that he does not plan to join the second debate either.

Chris Christie Slams Donald Trump, Says He Is Scared To Go to Jail After Cancelling Press Conference

While Trump is getting accused of ducking, Chris Christie continues his offensive against Trump and slammed his Republican Primary opponent for being scared of going to jail. In particular, he referenced the ongoing Georgia election meddling case where Trump canceled a press conference after he was advised by his lawyers not to go through with it.

"He never listens to his lawyers. But he listened this time, didn't he?" the former New Jersey governor told reporters on Saturday. "Why? Because he's scared. He is scared he's just a couple of steps away from that jail cell closing behind him."

Trump previously promised that he would hold a press conference and present "evidence" that he claims would "exonerate" him from the Georgia case. The former president's claims have previously been debunked by Georgia Republicans, pointing to the three Trump-funded recounts that all failed to show any evidence of voter fraud. Should he present any of his debunked evidence, he could complicate his case further, as critics point out that he is only doing this to win in the court of public opinion.

Donald Trump Lacks Respect for Republican Voters, Says Chris Christie

Christie also slammed Trump for ducking him at Wednesday's first Republican debate. The former governor of New Jersey was asked how he would feel if Trump skipped the debate.

"It shows his complete lack of respect for Republican voters," Christie answered.

The presidential candidate also addressed his recent surge in the polls in New Hampshire.

"We feel like it's really moving in our direction," he said. "Our momentum is going the right way."
