It is safe to say that after her viral reaction, Selena Gomez may not be a very big fan of controversial rapper Chris Brown. Her reaction face has since become a meme and now she is reacting to her own reaction.

The former Disney star was at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday night where she shared a beautiful moment with "bestie" Taylor Swift. However, strangely enough, it was not Tay-Tay who was grabbing headlines but Selena's reaction to Chris Brown getting a VMA nomination.

Chloe Bailey and Chris Brown received a nomination for best R&B and it seems that Selena Gomez did not like it, as it was evident in her face. Her face reportedly scrunched up the moment Brown's name was mentioned, according to Billboard. She also stopped clapping when his name came up. Since then, her reaction has been used in memes.

In a response to one of the earliest posts regarding the face she made, the Latina actress and singer flippantly responded in the comments, "Who cares lol."

Chris Brown, who has had a history of anger management issues, was repeatedly accused of violence against women. His most famous victim is his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna, who was publicly seen with bruises after an altercation with her then-boyfriend.

Selena Gomez Vows That She 'Will Never Be a Meme Again'

Shortly after the memes started going viral, the "Only Murders in the Building" star took to Instagram and posted an Instagram story, vowing that he "will never be a meme again" after her reactions were shared widely on social media. She then added, "I'd rather sit still than be dragged for being myself. Much love."

Her viral reaction has also managed to overshadow her big VMA win, According to Yahoo! Entertainment, she and Rema won the Best Afrobeats Video award for their collaboration "Calm Down."

She was also caught up in another incident later that night, as she was seen covering her ears during a performance by Olivia Rodrigo. Gomez looked rather confused as Rodrigo performed a medley of her songs. Her reaction to this also went viral, but not as memed as her Chris Brown reaction.

On X, formerly Twitter, users accused Selena Gomez of "covering her ears" to block out Rodrigo's singing. However, others defended her and suggested that she was just "thinking something was wrong on stage." Another user tweeted, "This is completely unfair and out of context: Olivia pretended to have her set break down and semi-explode as she was fake rushed off stage, and Selena was reacting to that."

Rema Talks About Success of Collaboration With Selena Gomez Over "Calm Down"

Meanwhile, Nigerian performer Rema is enjoying a ton of success thanks to "Calm Down," which he collaborated with Selena Gomez. As mentioned earlier, they even won a VMA for it.

According to People Magazine, while walking the red carpet at the awards show, he opened up about linking up with Selena Gomez, saying, "Everybody rocks with Selena, first of all," and then adding, "I've been rocking with her, and it was a blessing to find out she actually rocks with me. She listens to my music."

The Nigerian then stated that he has since gotten close to her and that he already considers her a friend.
