Tupac Shakur has remained a rap icon since his 1996 assassination in Las Vegas and he may now finally taste justice as one of his killers has finally been arrested.

Duane Keith "Keffe D" Davis, 60, has been indicted by a grand jury in Las Vegas on charges of murder with the use of a deadly weapon. This is in connection to the legendary rapper's high-profile killing near the Las Vegas Strip after seeing a Mike Tyson fight.

Davis was arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada last Friday, just a few months after police raided his wife's home in Henderson, Nevada last July. That was the first instance of the Tupac Shakur murder investigation being reopened in years.

Tupac was only 25 and at the height of his music career when he was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting on the Las Vegas Strip. As CNN pointed out, his untimely death fueled conspiracy theories in addition to the decades-long investigation.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill stated that Davis was the mastermind behind the Tupac Shakur murder. The attack was reportedly a retaliation over an attack on his nephew. He was reportedly in the back seat of the car used for the drive-by shooting that killed the rap legend.

"For 27 years, the family of Tupac Shakur has been waiting for justice," the sheriff said during a news conference. He added that the investigation, which started back in September 1996, "is far from over. It has taken countless hours, really decades, of work by the men and women of our homicide section to get to where we are today."

During the July raid of Davis's Henderson home, police recovered multiple computers, a cell phone, and a hard drive. They also recovered a Vibe magazine that featured Tupac, as well as several .40-caliber bullets, two "tubs containing photographs," and a copy of Davis's memoir.

"All the other direct conspirators or participants are all dead," former Detective Greg Kading told the Associated Press. "Keffe D is the last man standing among the individuals that conspired to kill Tupac." Kading investigated the Tupac murder and wrote a book about it.

Since his death, Tupac has left a legendary mark on the music industry. His fourth solo album, "All Eyez on Me," which came shortly before he was murdered, remained on the charts and sold around 5 million copies. He was also nominated for a Grammy Award six times and is still considered one of the most influential and versatile rappers of all time.

Who Is Tupac Shakur Murder Suspect Duane 'Keefe D' Davis?

No 60, Davis was born in Compton, California, and is known in the entertainment world as "Keffe D." He is also a well-known gang member and part of the South Side Compton Crips (SSCC).

Initially, he was presented as one of the only living witnesses to the Tupac Shakur murder and was even featured in TV specials and documentaries regarding the case. He did admit that he was inside the Cadillac used to do the drive-by shooting that killed Tupac.

According to USA Today, he was also the one who implicated his nephew, the late Orlando "Baby Lane" Anderson as the man who pulled the trigger on the rap legend. He stated he was one of two people in the back seat where the shots were fired.
