It's only a few more months now until gamers around the world will get their hands on the latest next generation gaming consoles. The Xbox One and PS4 are still duking it out for potential customers, so lets take a look at what they both have to offer.

PS4 clearly took the show at E3 earlier this summer -- nobody is disputing that. With a price point that is $100 cheaper than the Xbox One, paired with Microsoft's ill-fated attempt at a restrictive DRM policy, Sony was easily able to stride into the lead during this hotly contested console war.

Since that time, Sony has been trying to maintain that advantage. First off, they have already announced a competitive release date of Nov. 15. Though the Xbox One's release date is still unknown, many rumors don't have it hitting shelves until later than that.

Furthermore, it's been announced that Sony has teamed up with Twitch to provide gamers with a convenient way to immortalize their achievements. Twitch is a website that provides a platform for gamers to easily upload their gameplay for others to use. By working with Sony in that process, Twitch has ensured that PS4 users will have no problem broadcasting their accomplishments to the world.

"PlayStation has a long history of delivering some of the best gaming experiences in the industry and we're excited to have Twitch available on a console as heavily anticipated as PS4," Emmett Shear, Twitch CEO, said in a statement. "Through this partnership we are paving the way for every PS4 gamer to become both a broadcaster and an avid spectator of amazing content."

But the PS4 hasn't won just yet. While Sony has won many aspects of the war so far, it appears that they may be losing in the category that matters the most: game offerings. Granted, Sony has already teased gamers with a yet-untitled offering from the uber-popular developers at Naughty Dog, but the Xbox One has a laundry list of specials op their sleeve.

Among the highlights of that list are Ryse, Dead Rising 3, and Fable. Also, Microsoft has already given a sneak peak of a new fighting game for the Kinect: The Fighter Within. Clearly, PS4 will need to beef up their game lineup if they want to keep their edge, and some people have even gone so far as to indicate that they may already be losing.

"In retrospect, I think Microsoft has a small, but definite edge. Not a secure roost, by any means, but an edge. Even though some of Microsoft's exclusives will be timed exclusives, that edge will matter at launch," writes Erin Kain for Forbes.
