Lance Stephenson might consider leaving the Indiana Pacers after reportedly turning down a new deal, ESPN reported on Wednesday.

According to Chris Broussard of ESPN, Stephenson, an unrestricted free agent this summer, turned down a five-year, $44 million offer from the Pacers.

Stephenson, who had a breakout year last season after averaging career-highs 13.8 points to go along with 7.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists, reportedly informed the Pacers that he is looking for a bigger contract.

"Lance and his representatives aren't sure they're going to be able to reach an agreement with the Pacers," an ESPN source said. "It's clear they want him back and he wanted to go back, but they may not be able to come to terms."

Aside from the Pacers, Stephenson's agent Alberto Ebanks will reportedly talk to several teams in the coming days, including the Los Angeles Lakers and the Chicago Bulls, especially if both teams fail to land one of their top targets this summer - Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James.

Sources indicated that the 23-year-old forward is looking for a lucrative deal, but will also consider the team's potential of winning an NBA title in the next several years in making his decision.

It is still unknown at this point whether or not the Pacers will give into Stephenson's demand, but Indiana All-Star forward Paul George could play a role in the process.

George played down previous speculations that he wants Stephenson out, saying that he would love to continue playing alongside the former Cincinnati standout.

"Obviously, me and Lance have been here four years together. I would love to continue to keep playing with Lance. When I said 'I don't know,' I was speaking on what he's going to do. I don't know what he's going to do, I don't know what our front office is going to do and at the end of the day that's my decision," George said.

It should be noted, though, that the Pacers already have big contracts on their books next season - Paul George for $15.8 million, Roy Hibbert for $14.9 million, and David West for $12 million - and it might be difficult for them to increase their offer for Stephenson.
