A sitting federal judge harshly criticized Donald Trump's penchant for attacking the judges overseeing his case as he tries to pander to the court of public opinion in his various cases. This came after the former president attacked Judge Juan Merchan, the judge overseeing the porn star hush money case, and his daughter after the judge imposed a gag order against him.

US District Judge Reggie Walton, a sitting federal judge, warned that Trump's statements against Judge Merchan are threatening the viability of the American legal system. The judge calling out Trump on a public platform is a rare rebuke as federal judges speak publicly rarely, especially regarding specific political or legal situations.

The judge recently appeared on CNN's "The Source" and spoke with host Kaitlan Collins regarding the former president's latest attack on a judge. He admitted that, much like Merchan, he has also faced various threats in relation to a case, as well as his daughter also getting those threats.

"It's very disconcerting to have someone making comments about a judge, and it's particularly problematic when those comments are in the form of a threat, especially if they're directed at one's family," the judge stated on CNN. "We do these jobs because we're committed to the rule of law and we believe in the rule of law, and the rule of law can only function effectively when we have judges who are prepared to carry out their duties without the threat of potential physical harm."

"I think it's important in order to preserve our democracy that we maintain the rule of law," he added. "And the rule of law can only be maintained if we have independent judicial officers who are able to do their job and ensure that the laws are, in fact, enforced and that the laws are applied equally to everybody who appears in our courthouse."

Donald Trump Trying To Get Fulton County DA Kicked Out of Case Again

While Trump was attacking a judge in New York, he was trying to get a district attorney kicked out in his case in Georgia once again. He and his allies submitted an application to appeal Judge Scott McAfee's ruling that allowed Fulton County DA Fani Willis to continue leading the prosecution against him.

"This legal error requires the Court's immediate review," the filing read.

Yahoo! News pointed out that Trump is pursuing "each and every line of defense available in the criminal and civil cases brought against the former president."

Joe Biden Trying To Get Under Donald Trump's Skin

Meanwhile, as he faces various lawsuits and four criminal cases, Donald Trump is also running for president and is currently the presumptive Republican nominee. His opponent, President Joe Biden, is now employing a new strategy against him: to get under the former president's thin skin.

Biden is following the Trump playbook and is also going with childish insults as he constantly calls his political rival a "loser," often pointing out that Trump lost the 2020 election.

He has also labeled Trump as "Broke Don" due to the former president's money issues as the Trump Campaign struggles with money while Trump struggles to pay for his legal bills.
