The former Trump Organization executive who was said to have had the knowledge of all of Donald Trump's financial details, Allen Weisselberg, was sentenced to five months in jail on Wednesday after pleading guilty to two counts of perjury last month. Seth L. Rosenberg, Weisselberg's lawyer, stated that his client "accepted responsibility for his conduct and now looks forward to the end of this life-altering experience and to returning to his family and his retirement."

In 2022, the former Trump Organization CFO also pleaded guilty to tax fraud charges, He admitted to not paying taxes on $1.7 million of his income with "off the books" benefits. These include the Trump organization paying for the tuition for his grandchildren, a luxury apartment, and two Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

His lawyers argued that he should be on the campaign trail rather than "in a courtroom defending himself" starting next week.

However, the judge rejected this latest argument, paving the way for the trial to finally start on Monday. As the defendant, Trump must attend all the hearings, which means he may miss a few crucial campaign events.
