Stephen Curry believes that the Golden State Warriors made the right decision to keep Klay Thompson instead of including him in a trade package for Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love.

In an interview with WFAN, Curry said that Love would have been a great addition to the Warriors, but he quickly added that keeping Thompson in Golden State was the right choice to make.

"Obviously Kevin Love's a great player and they were making the decision whether that would make us a better team to let him go, bring Kevin on, and I think they made the right choice that me and him in the backcourt and core that we have," Curry said.

The Warriors were one of the strong favorites to land Love in a trade this summer, but they remained firm on not including Thompson in any trade package. The Timberwolves pushed for Thompson's inclusion in the deal, but the Warriors did not budge, and decided to end talks with Minnesota.

Curry, who had the best year of his career last season when he averaged 24.0 points to go along with 8.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds, is confident that they can still contend for a title next season despite failing to acquire Love.

"We've got a legit shot at winning the championship next year, and I'm ready to take that on," Curry said. "I think all those rumors are gone now, and we'll get back to business."

In an interview with The Dan Patrick Show via CSN Bay Area, Curry also admitted that top Warriors officials consulted him about his thoughts on acquiring Love.

When asked of if he would have given Thompson to acquire Love, Curry had a straight-to-the-point response: "I don't think you can give up Klay to make that happen. We have such a good core together. You got David Lee, Andrew Bogut We were a great team last year. Put the same core together another year, we gotta get better, right?"

Love, who averaged 26.1 points and 12.5 rebounds per game last season, will reportedly be traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers before the end of the month in exchange for Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and a 2015 first-round pick.
