Sony is so confident in the upcoming Playstation 4 that it has already started making bold predictions on how many game consoles they expect to sell.

Sony's President and Group CEO, Andrew House, said his company believes it will sell around 5 million game consoles between Nov. 15 and Mar. 31, which is the end of the company's financial year.

Sony's PS4 is lined up neck to neck with Microsoft's Xbox One as both systems will be released right before the wild annual black Friday frenzy that comes the day after Thanksgiving in the United States.

Sony is making a bold prediction considering that the company only sold 3.6 million PS3 consoles in that same period of time when it was released. Sony is using existing materials in its manufacturing process in order to save money; the PS3 took longer to become profitable because it was rather expensive to build.

Perhaps the less expensive material is being reflected in the much cheaper price this time around compared to the PS3. The PS4 is marked at $399 as opposed to the $599 price tag when the PS3 was first released. The Xbox One costs $100 more, which will easily make the difference when fans are deciding on two very similar game consoles.

The more expensive Xbox does seem to have an edge when it comes to the interactivity, as I mentioned in a previous article. Microsoft has made it a priority to emphasize the full experience offered by the Xbox One, beyond just the gaming experience itself. Microsoft has signed a deal with the NFL to bring highlights, scores, and more to the Xbox screen and Microsoft also has signed a deal with Steven Spielberg to help create the new "Halo" show. Microsoft is apparently working on a few TV shows to bring to Xbox fans.
