Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight champion Jon Jones tested positive for traces of cocaine and has entered a drug treatment facility, multiple reports confirmed on Tuesday night.

According to The Associated Press, Jones tested positive for benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine, before his eighth successful title defense against Daniel Cormier at UFC 182 on Saturday night in Las Vegas.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) revealed that the urine sample were taken on Dec. 4 and was examined by a World Anti-Doping Agency-accredited laboratory.

The results of the examination were reportedly released on Dec. 23, but Jones was still allowed to defend his title against Cormier. The Jones-Cormier showdown pushed through because benzoylecgonine is banned just in competition or if taken 12 hours before the fight. Since the test was out of competition, Jones' victory against Cormier will stand.

The NSAC could reportedly still impose sanction to Jones. UFC could also penalize the reigning light heavyweight champion, but the promotion released a statement where they expressed full support for Jones, praising his decision to undergo treatment.

"While we are disappointed in the failed test, we applaud him for making this decision to enter a drug treatment facility," the UFC said in a statement. "Jon is a strong, courageous fighter inside the Octagon, and we expect him to fight this issue with the same poise and diligence. We commend him on his decision, and look forward to him emerging from this program a better man as a result."

Reebok, who recently signed Jones to a sponsorship deal after the UFC superstar decided not to renew his contract with Nike, also stood behind their endorser.

"We commend Jon for taking the necessary steps to address this issue, and we will support him in any way we can," Reebok said in a statement first reported by Darren Rovell. "The status of Jon's relationship with Reebok has not changed."

Meanwhile, instead of blasting Jones or asking UFC for an immediate rematch, Cormier also wished his 27-year-old rival good luck on his drug rehab.

"I am aware of Jon's test, and if there is anything to say it is this: There are a lot of people you impact, so please let's get it together," Cormier said MMA Fighting. "Good luck on your rehab!"
