For those hoping to watch an exciting championship game, you weren't let down. The Patriots and Seahawks dueled in one of the most thrilling Super Bowls in NFL history. Both teams finished the regular season as the No. 1 seed in their respective conference and had a combined 4-0 playoff record leading up to this game.

The two teams began the game with a scoreless first quarter. The Patriots drove into the Seahawks' red zone in the first quarter, but quarterback Tom Brady threw an interception to Jeremy Lane. Unfortunately for the Seahawks, Lane was injured on the play and did not return.

The second quarter was very different than the first. Each team scored two touchdowns beginning with an 11-yard Brandon LaFell catch in the end zone. Then, the Seahawks started to heat up. The Seahawks would score on their next four consecutive possessions. With just 31 second left in the half, tight end Robert Gronkowski caught a 22-yard touchdown pass on the right side of the field with a cornerback tight end mismatch. With just half a minute remaining, the Seahawks drove all the way down the field, much thanks to undrafted wide receiver Chris Matthews, who had a terrific game. Russell Wilson found Matthews for a touchdown with just two seconds left in the first half.

Score tied 14-14 at the half.

The Seahawks received the ball to begin the third quarter, and they continued their scoring streak. The Seahawks would kick a field and score a touchdown on their next two drives. The touchdown was a Wilson pass to Doug Baldwin (Darrelle Revis hit the referee) to put the Seahawks ahead, 24-14. The Seahawks shut out the Patriots in the third quarter and linebacker Bobby Wagner picked off Brady in the process. The Seahawks were now on 24-7 scoring run. It looked like the Seahawks were on their way to a second consecutive Super Bowl victory.

The Seahawks led 24-14 going into the fourth quarter.

The largest deficit overcome in a Super Bowl was 10 points, and no team had ever come from behind by 10 points in the fourth quarter. The Seahawks had scored on their last four possessions, and they have one of the best defenses we have ever seen. But the Patriots still had hope.

The Patriots offense would score touchdowns on their next two drives including a Julian Edelman go ahead score with 2:02 remaining in the game. Patriots led 28-24. The Patriots defense in the fourth quarter had forced three consecutive punts, but they had one more stop to get.

In dramatic fashion, the Seahawks began their final drive with a 31-yard pass to Marshawn Lynch along the left side of field. In the blink of an eye the Seahawks were back in the driver's seat. On that final drive, Wilson threw a pass to Jermaine Kearse in one of the craziest plays in Super Bowl history. The ball bounced around and was eventually caught by Kearse, who was being covered by cornerback Malcolm Butler. The Seahawks now had the ball at the five yard line. Lynch would run the Seahawks down to the one yard line, setting up a second and goal from the one. In a surprising decision, Pete Carroll and the Seahawks decided to pass the ball in the middle of the field, and Butler jumped the route to notch the game-winning interception.

Patriots win 28-24

Tom Brady was named Super Bowl MVP finishing the game with a record 37 completions, 328 yards and four touchdowns.
