The latest tech rumors say that Samsung will release the Galaxy S5 smartphone early next year.

ET News, a Korean news website, claims that production on the Samsung Galaxy S5 will begin in January 2014, Telegraph reports. The smartphone will reportedly be manufactured in Vietnam, and the phone will be under consideration to be released to the public by the end of the quarter.

The website also claims that there will be two different versions of the Galaxy S5, similar to what Apple has done with its iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. One version of the Galaxy S5 will reportedly feature a flexible screen and a metal casing. Meanwhile, the more budget-friendly version of the Galaxy S5 is said to feature a standard screen and plastic casing.

This double-release approach was just recently done by Apple, but with questionable success. The iPhone 5c has seen multiple production cuts due to slow sales, so it would be a bit surprising if Samsung followed in Apple's footsteps. If Samsung does take this approach, the company probably has a trick up its sleeve to make their move more successful than that of Apple's (perhaps the "flexible" screen?)

If the rumors are true, the Galaxy S5 will be released rather quickly after the Galaxy S4, in comparison to other Samsung releases. Rumors have it that the Galaxy S4 has been selling slowly, prompting the rapid release of its successor.

Galaxy S5 features are expected to include a 5-inch screen with 560 ppi pixel density and Super AMOLED technology.
