It is not Eminem, Justin Timberlake or Lady Gaga -- Miley Cyrus is the best artist of the year, according to MTV.

After stealing the spotlight at both 2013 MTV Video Music Awards and MTV EMA with her jaw-dropping performances and starring in original MTV documentary Miley: The Movement, the network crowned the twerking singer the title. Also, Cyrus's MTV artist page was the most-visited of the year, especially with her VMAs performance being the most-watched video.

In addition to her memorable appearances on MTV, the pop star's No. 1 October release "Bangerz," featuring two worldwide hit singles, "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball," played a great part in her dominating both the charts and headlines this year. Both singles were accompanied by the visuals that instantly became viral, according to Vevo: "Wrecking Ball" music video is its most-viewed video of 2013, followed by the clip for "We Can't Stop."

Miley Cyrus provided the "criteria for the editorial lists including and single sales, touring, social media, Internet and overall impact": she gave a glorious show as a host and performer on "Saturday Night Live," as well as being simultaneously named best-dressed and worst-dressed on Time magazine.

Cyrus is the third artist to take the network's title, previously following Katy Perry and One Direction, who are still on MTV's top 10 best artists of 2013.
