In light of the on-going game console shortage, Lonon's high-end department store is offering Christmas rush shoppers an option. That is, they're offering the Xbox One with an expensive twist.

Harrods is offering a gold-plated Xbox One priced at 6,000 British pounds or roughly $9,785. The Microsoft game console is clad in 24 karat gold and is in full display at the British luxury department store.

Price for a regular Xbox One is $499.99 which means that the golden version sets back game freaks at least 19 times the price of the regular version.

The snapshot of the golden Xbox One was uploaded by Reddit user SirShyn on the website. Needless to say, the post has gone viral with over 11,000 up votes and 9,000 down votes.

This isn't the first time that gamers were left at a wonder with gold-plated gaming devices. A couple of years ago, an Xbox 360 also enjoyed such fate. The golden Xbox 360 served as prize for The Behemoth's "Tournament of Champions." Flashback two more years and Her Royal Highness was presented with a golden Wii.

Although the game console itself was clad in what-would-fit-royalty casing, there were no photos of the Xbox One controllers and other accessories. In fact, the 24 karat gold plated Xbox One console seemed lonely inside of its protective glass - with only the 6,000 British pound-price tag as its company.

Next generation game consoles such as the Xbox One and Sony's PS4 have been dubbed as part of the most in demand gifts list for 2013. The only thing that seems to be stopping buyers is the plummeting stocks of these consoles.

Microsoft has announced earlier that more than two million Xbox One consoles have been sold since launch day. Rival PS4 has also sold enough consoles to the point of shortage.
