Uruguay and Paraguay will face off in a crucial Copa America clash that will decide their fates in this tournament.

Paraguay enters the game with four points while Uruguay has just three. A draw would put Paraguay through to the next round, while a win would do the same for Uruguay.

A lot is contingent on how Argentina fares against Jamaica which has been all but eliminated at this point. An Argentina loss coupled with a draw would put Uruguay level with its rivals. Goal difference would be the different maker in deciding which side finishes second in the group; Uruguay is currently even while Argentina is at +1. If that outcome came about, then Argentina and Uruguay would be both be even in goal differential. Then goals scored would play a factor, and Uruguay would need a 3-3 draw to better Argentina.

In any case, this game will be a rather interesting duel as it pits the two finalists from 2011, albeit in different forms. Paraguay and Uruguay are both shells of the team that made a deep run a few years ago. Paraguay was a minnow in World Cup qualifiers last year while Uruguay is without its star player and has looked like a team missing a key cog.

Without Luis Suarez, the team's offense has been unproductive, scoring just one goal thus far in the tournament. Edinson Cavani, who was expected to take on the offensive load, has simply looked lost in the tournament providing close to nothing for Uruguay.

On the positive end of things, the defense has been solid, a huge factor against a Paraguayan side that proved itself dangerous against Argentina.

One would have thought that the 2-2 draw with the titans of the group would push Paraguay to improve its standing against the weak Jamaicans, but instead the team relied on an error from the opposing netminder to pick up the win.
