Manchester City look determined to reclaim their title next season as reports indicated they are interested in acquiring Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain this summer.

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said earlier this month that they will make big investment in new players in the offseason in their bid to win major tournaments, such as the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League next season.

According to ESPN FC, Manchester City are looking for a high-quality striker to play alongside Sergio Aguero starting next season, and Benzema and Higuain are reportedly on top of their list of targets.

Higuain, who played for Napoli last season and scored 18 goals in the Italian Serie A last season, could be on his way out of the team after the club failed to qualify for the Champions League next season.

However, club president Aurelio De Laurentiis made it clear that they will only part ways with the 27-year-old if they will get a "crazy offer" from another club. Aside from Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and AS Roma are also being linked to a deal to acquire the Argentina international.

Benzema, who tallied 15 goals and 10 assists in 29 Spanish La Liga appearances last season, is also being mentioned in numerous transfer rumors, especially after Real Madrid parted ways with former coach Carlo Ancelotti and hired Rafael Benitez to take over at Bernabeu.

Benzema is also on the radar of Manchester United, but his agent Karim Djaziri reiterated he has not talked to any team about a possible transfer deal, and that the 27-year-old France international will only leave the club if Real Madrid decide to sell him to another team.

"What is Karim going to do in Manchester? He's happy in Madrid," Djaziri told Marca. "He doesn't want to leave. Benzema would only leave if Real Madrid told him he was surplus to requirements, because he isn't going to leave of his own accord. Karim wants to see out his contract. He wants to retire at Real Madrid."
