A collection of notable veteran actors from across the Atlantic have already been featured in the Harry Potter film series. Distinguished names such as Maggie Smith, Kenneth Branagh, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, Gary Oldman, Warwick Davis, Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham Carter, and even John Cleese have all left their marks on the popular magical epic.

A recent report has revealed that a certain Irish actor has been added to that list.

Colin Farrell will take on the role of Graves in the upcoming "Harry Potter" Spinoff film "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them".

Farrell, whose most recent film "The Lobster" garnered critical acclaim at the 68th Cannes Film Festival, is the latest to be cast in next year's Warner Bros.

He will be joining an ensemble headlined by the Academy Award winner for best actor Eddie Redmayne, together with Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller and comedian Dan Fogler. Singer Alison Sudol will be making her acting debut in the film.

The "Total Recall" actor will be a wizard named Graves. Graves will cross paths with  Redmayne's character in New York. Redmayne will be playing "magizoologist" Newt Scamander,

"The story centers on Newt's adventures in the secret community of witches and wizards as he attempts to document magical creatures. The events of Fantastic Beasts take place 70 years before Harry Potter reads Newt's book in school," The Hollywood Reporter wrote.

Farrell together with the rest of the cast are likely to be tied to the Harry Potter spinoff for multiple years. It can be recalled that The New York Times ran a feature of Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara last year. It reported that J.K. Rowling has agreed to expand the Harry Potter world in "three megamovies" that would star Newt Scamander.

However, a report from seven months ago stated that Warner Bros. is treating "Fantastic Beasts" as a solo film with the possibility of having follow-ups. The film's timeline is set way before Harry Potter's story, but it promises to have the same magic that got fans hooked with the books and films.

The movie will still have the Potter touch as none other than J.K. Rowling herself is writing the script, while David Yates will be directing the potential trilogy. Yates has directed the Harry Potter films from 2005's "Goblet of Fire" onwards.

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will be released worldwide in IMAX and 3D on Nov. 18, 2016.
