Xiaomi unveiled the latest MIUI 7, which will provide new features and updated designs, during an event in China.

Through their official website, the company, which has been making a lot of noise over the past several months with their cheap but attractive smartphones, gave their fans a glimpse on their new MIUI interface.

The Android 5.1 Lollipop-based firmware will include and automatic photo sorter app. The new app sorts out images in the People Tab via face recognition. Upon capture, the photos will then be sent to their distinct file folders. Interestingly enough, the app can distinguish various pets as well.

In line with Xiaomi's quest for convenience, the MIUI 7 lets users buy data packages from their company through the new "MI Roaming" app. The app functions as a virtual SIM card for users who travel out of the country. It foregoes the user's need to purchase extra SIM cards.

Another feature that the MIUI 7 boasts is "Kids Mode". The app limits what children can access while navigating through the device, perfect for parents wanting more control on what their kids could see on the handset.

MIUI 7 also ups the ante regarding its phonebook. The firmware can let users set videos for their contacts instead of pictures. The video of a certain contact will be playing while an on-going call is being made.

MIUI 7 comes in four main theme classes, which caters to both the sexes. The update includes the pinkly-embelished 'Goddess' mode aimed at the female demographic. Users can have their desired wallpaper-to-screensaver combinations. They will be able to download more specific themes from Xiaomi's virtual store.

However, the new update did not have the spotlight all to itself as Xiaomi Inc. also unveiled the Redmi Note 2 and the Redmi Note 2 Prime yesterdayon Tuesday.

According to Xiaomi's official online forum, the Redmi Note 2 has a 5.5'' full HD 1920 X 1080 display, 13 megapixel Samsung/OV main camera with a 5 megapixel OmniVision front-face shooter.

Other specs of the Redmi Note 2 include a MTK Flagship Helio X10 chipset, 2 GB of RAM, and TDD & FDD 4G dual-SIM support. The device will be available in 16GB or 32GB variants, and will be equipped with a 3060mAh removable battery. Needless to say, the device will operate on the MIUI 7.

The Redmi Note 2 Prime is the budget handset between the two with slightly-lesser specs than the Redmi Note 2.
