Selena Gomez readily admits she has no regrets about the time she spent with Justin Bieber, though she hints she finds it a bit odd that people still have trouble separating the two.

"The Internet wants to freeze this moment in time and constantly repeat it," she told The New York Times of all the constant rumors about her and Bieber reuniting. The "Good For You" singer added all the rocky times she endured with Bieber have hardly soured her on being open to finding love.

"I didn't think I was doing anything bad by falling in love," she said. "There's such an emphasis on people being the perfect thing and then destroying them because it's good press. Also throw in the fact that you are a teenager -- it makes it more difficult. The next relationship will be something dear to me. There is no way I will ever hide my life."

While admitting that she is currently dating, Gomez adds her busy work schedule prevents her from focusing too much attention on her love life.

The 21-year-old Bieber wasn't the first megastar Gomez has dated and much like him being with ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas was also a learning experience for her. Back then, the two came under heavy and constant criticism for wearing their so-called "purity rings."

Gomez claims she's not "embarrassed" to admit that they wore the rings, nor is she "embarrassed" to admit she doesn't wear hers now.

"Sometimes you have to lie to yourself to get through the criticism, and then you're in your closet crying," she said. "It's been like that for me a couple of times, but I only want to learn from those things."

Through it all, Gomez insists her relationship with BFF Taylor Swift has remained intact.

"I can count on one hand the people I could call and who would be there for me," said Gomez. "Taylor is one of the greatest people."
