Microsoft is set to unveil two new flagship smartphones next month.

Even though details on the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL have been profusely tipped the last few weeks, fans still itch for more. The pair is rumored to run on the Windows 10 OS.

As of late, the influx of information on both devices has gone stale. Luckily, fans won't be left empty as another upcoming smartphone from Microsoft has surfaced amid the intermission.

According to Win Future via Nokia Power User, a low-tier to mid-range Lumia was first spotted on the Zauba database. It had a 4.7-inch screen and had a single-SIM and dual-SIM variants. The device was assigned the build number "RM-1127."

Not long after, a certain "RM-1128" was seen listed on GFX Bench. The latest handset had a similar specs sheet with the Zauba leak. Speculators affirmed that the devices will have adjoining variant codes often pertain to the same thing.

Just recently, another device with close to similar specs sheet appeared in the database of a European distributor. This time, the device wasn't protected with an alias.

The database listings were quickly taken down but not before an equally swift blogger from WPApps.es snapped pictures of it.

As far as the database listing go, the Lumia 550 budget smartphone will probably end up with the following specs:

  • 4.7-inch 720p display
  • Quad-core Snapdragon 210 processor
  • Single- or dual-SIM support
  • LTE support
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 8 GB internal memory
  • Five-megapixel main camera
  • 1.2-megapixel front-facing unit

It's intriguing to note though that Microsoft was strongly developing the Lumia 550 to include 16 GB of RAM.

According to an earlier screenshot of the GFX Bench listings, the Lumia 550 was supposed to have a five-inch QHD display, 16 GB of RAM and 1,905 mAh battery.

WM Power User since reported that Microsoft cancelled the initial specs sheet of the Lumia 550.

To end on a good note, Microsoft still uses the device to test the Windows 10 Mobile. The final Lumia 550 might just be a Windows 10 Mobile device after all.The Lumia 550 is rumored to retail for $120.

The latest news should be taken with a grain of salt since Microsoft has yet to officially announce the Lumia 550.

As for the highly-anticipated Microsoft flagships, the two new Lumias will be showcased at a media event in New York on October 19.

The pair will then be released shortly thereafter. The Lumia 950 aka "Talkman" will retail for $600 while the Lumia 950 XL aka "Cityman" will cost around $649, Nokia Power User earlier reported.
