Sony's Xperia Z5 Compact is now available in several European markets.

According to Xperia Blog, customers in the U.K. can grab hold of their own SIM-free Z5 Compact for £450 or roughly $680 in the U.S. The latest Sony handset comes in three color variants namely white, black and coral. Its off-contract version retails around €600 in Spain, Italy, Sweden and Poland.

Carphone Warehouse measures the Z5 Compact at 4.6 inches with HD 280p display. This makes it Sony's smallest offering from the company's Xperia Z5 lineup, which includes the 5.5-inch Z5 Premium and the 5.2-inch Z5. Sony will launch the two larger models later this year.

As for the other specs of the Z5 Compact, the handset is powered by Qualcomm's octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor and runs on Android Lollipop straight out the box. It comes with a 2,700 mAh battery, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage.

The dust and waterproof (IP 68 certified) device sports a 23-megapixel main camera capable of 4K video recording and fast autofocus while its five-megapixel front-facing unit has support for Full HD videos. Lastly, the Z5 Compact is fitted with a fingerprint sensor and is equipped with Bluetooth and GPS connectivity.

The handset's launch date in the U.S. has yet to be reported, although the Z5 Compact will certainly be released in more European countries and several Asian markets as time progresses.

In the meantime, a retail packaging of Sony's limited edition Xperia Z5 Compact "Spectre" model has leaked online.

Journalist @Riciolo1 recently took to his official Twitter account to tease the box of the Bond-inspired handset.

"Spectre" is the title of the upcoming James Bond movie co-produced and co-distributed by Sony's Columbia Pictures. With the linkages at place, a partnership between Sony's new smartphone and the world's most popular albeit fictional secret agent is a foregone conclusion.

Digital Trends article confirms that no less than James Bond himself will use one of the Xperia Z5 models in some capacity in "Spectre," which arrives in cinemas on Oct. 26.

Sony has been known to take advantage of Bond's unwavering fan base all over the globe. The multi-faceted company has synched its film studio with its mobile department through product placements on recent 007 films. However, the marketing ploy hasn't been well received by Bond actor Daniel Craig.

Craig was previously quoted saying that the Xperia Z3+ wasn't "cool enough" for Bond, despite being paid $5 million to be seen with the handset onscreen.

Even though the current deal between Sony and Eon Productions hasn't been made public, it's safe to assume Craig has been offered an even pricier amount to endorse the Xperia Z5 handset.
