A month after the final Beta test was conducted, Apple has finally released its new iOS 7.1 operating system for smartphones and tablets. This software update is coming out 6 months after the iOS 7 was first released. Besides the latest generation of Apple products, the software is also compatible with iPhone 4, iPad 2 and iPod touch devices. Those who are already using the iOS 7 versions can upgrade the compatible devices by going to the "Software Update" section of the "General" page in the settings.

There were several complaints in the previous version of the iOS. As such, bug fixes were made as well as other necessary changes and design tweaks. There were also additional changes made to the visual design as well as the inclusion of new power-off features. Other essential features in the new operating system include:

  • Siri voice improvements. These natural-sounding voices were made available in various languages. Its ability to pick up voices has also improved drastically.
  • Calendar changes. There were changes made in the calendar to include holidays that are specific to a particular country.
  • Camera settings improvement. The camera settings were also changed in order to allow users to enable HDR mode for iPhone automatically.
  • Fingerprint recognition improvement. The Touch ID feature was also improved to make it more suitable and convenient for users.

Millions of users have been waiting for the release of the new software. For those users who are interested in downloading the software it is now available via Apple's website. There are also download links available through Apple's Phobos server. For those who are attempting to download during the next few days, it might be a bit slow since there will be millions of other users trying to do the same thing. It is advised to download via a Wi-Fi connection since the file is large. If that is still not enough, users can delete some of their device's contents to install the software.
