Apple updated its operating system Wednesday to iOS 9.1. Included in the update were over 150 new emojis, new wallpapers and improvements for the iPhone 6s.

The new emojis were the main new feature for most users updating to iOS 9.1. Updates also came to the three planet wallpapers that Apple uses as the default background images for the home screen, 9 to 5 Mac reports.

Prior to releasing iOS 9.1, Apple allowed beta testers over a month with the updates. There were a total of five beta versions before the final version of iOS 9.1 was released, according to Mac Rumors.

Immediately after its release, iOS 9 was followed up with slight updates with versions of iOS 9.0.1 and iOS 9.0.2. iOS 9.1 is the first major update.

As far as the emojis go, the 9.1 update added a taco, a cheese wedge, a middle finger and a champagne bottle, along with many more images.

A new feature that premiered on the iPhone 6s, called Live Photos, brings photos to life by recording 1.5 seconds before and after the picture is taken. iOS 9.1 fixed the feature to ensure that Live Photos will not detect up and down movement while taking a picture.

In the messages app, 9.1 also allows users to disable contact photos.

The update to iOS 9.1 also includes support for Apple's upcoming new devices, including the fourth generation Apple TV and the iPad Pro.

Additionally, Apple News will be made available to iOS 9.1 users in the United Kingdom for the first time.

Finally, the update included bug fixes to errors reported by users. Apple encourages users to send in feedback for any bugs that they experience.

iOS 9.1 is available as an over-the-air download to any iOS 9 user. It is a small download and installs quickly.
