It's hard to believe, football fans, but we're already entering the seventh week of the 2015 NFL season. By now each and every team pretty much knows just where they stand and where they have to improve. The NFL trade deadline is nearing, and numerous teams across the league have to start making deals.

One of those teams is the San Francisco 49ers.

According to multiple reports, Vernon Davis could be traded to the Green Bay Packers or Atlanta Falcons. Davis is definitely one of the best tight ends in recent memory, but his production is declining rapidly in the new 49ers system without Jim Harbaugh. The 49ers are now 2-4 without much hope in the near future. Davis hasn't even caught a single pass in the last two games from Colin Kaepernick, and he has zero touchdown grabs this year.

Davis is in the final year of his contract, in which he is scheduled to make $4.3 million in base salary.

So how likely is it that Davis gets traded before this year's NFL trade deadline? It's possible. Again, Davis is in the last year of his contract, so the 49ers may want to get value now while they still can. Despite there still being 10 games remaining for the 49ers, this team has a lot of rebuilding to do in order to win the NFC West. Trading away Davis could be the first step in the rebuilding process for the 49ers.

Historically, the Packers aren't a very busy team when it comes to adding free agents and making blockbuster trades. They have by far the largest amount of drafted players on their roster. Richard Rodgers is the top tight end for the Packers, but he isn't having a great season. Rodgers only has 21 catches for 189 receiving yards this season. The Packers won't be releasing Rodgers anytime soon, but adding Davis to the roster and playing a two tight-end system could be beneficial. Outside of Rodgers, the Packers don't have a single tight end on the roster with more than two catches this season.

The other team apparently in play is the Falcons. The Falcons are flying high at 5-1, but, they too, could use a boost at the tight end position. Jacob Tamme has been the only productive tight end for the Falcons this season, but even he has yet to catch a single touchdown pass this season from Matt Ryan.

Davis would bring veteran leadership to a young Falcons squad that plays in an NFC South division trailing only the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers have arguably the best tight end in the game today in Greg Olsen. It's unlikely Davis can match Olsen if he goes to the Falcons, but he can give Ryan a nice short yardage target to throw to.

That same report also indicated that the St. Louis Rams were contacting other teams who may be interested in their tight end, Jared Cook. Cook hasn't exactly lived up to his contract with the Rams, and he still has two years remaining with more than $16 million in salary cap hits. Because of such a high price tag, but not such a great return, it's very unlikely Cook will get dealt before the deadline.

The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 4 p.m. EDT.
