On Tuesday, the world finally got to see the highly anticipated HTC One (M8) as HTC unveiled its new device to audiences at its London and New York conference.

According to a press release by the Taiwan based smartphone manufacturer, the M8 comes with the Sense 6 experience, HTC Duo Camera and Motion Launch.

Built as the follow-up to last year's HTC One (M7), designated the "Smartphone of the Year" by Mobile World Congress at its February event in Spain, the M8 touts a body primarily made of metal, which is the opposite direction of the company's key competitor Samsung and its Galaxy S line.

The phone was built "with a Smart Sensor Hub that anticipates your needs and uses Motion Launch controls to make everyday tasks easier," the press release said.

HTC Chief Executive Officer Peter Chou said in the release that the company continues to challenge itself in and will continue making smarphones that go beyond the status quo.

"As pioneers in mobile innovation, we continue to design and build devices that will dazzle, inspire and transform the smartphone industry," Chou said. "Today I'm proud to launch the most stunning, intuitive and advanced handset that the industry has seen to date."

Much of the phone's specs were leaked and rumored in the last few months leading up to the Tuesday launch. According to HTC, the phone was built with a metal body that is meant to be more durable than its predecessor while featuring a 5-inch full HD display with 1080p.

The M8 is "supported by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2.3 GHz quad0core Krait CPUs" and runs on the latest Android OS, the Android 4.4, KitKat.

As rumored, the phone, like its predecessor and several newer devices, comes stored with the Google Play edition. M8 will also be available in Gunmetal Gray, which was used in Tuesday's presentation, Glacial Silver and Amber Gold.

The M8 is already available in many locations around the globe including the U.S. and can be purchased online through Amazon or through retail wireless carriers such as Verizon Wireless, AT&T and Sprint. The three retailers are marketing the HTC's new handset at $199.99 when signing up with their 2-year contracts, while T-Mobile will begin selling the phone on April 11, the same day the Galaxy S5 is released, according to Tech Times.
