It is true that the previous version of Chevrolet Corvette saw certain backdrops in the market with a few unavoidable issue. But the vehicle giant doesn't seem to accept the failure with the model. Therefore, Chevrolet rolled out an improved new generation Corvette known as the C7, which sticks to the traditional Corvette format. Now, in its quest to bring out something more advanced under the same title of Corvette the company is reportedly cooking something more fantastic and innovative.

According to The Drive, a bunch of internal documents of General Motors service were supposedly leaked out recently. The revealed papers indicate that a newly improved engine is on its way to being seen in the Corvette in 2018. Code-named as LT5, the alleged engine will be a 6.2-liter V8 one. As per potential sources, this will carry ample similarities with the existing engines used in current Corvettes, but it will drop the pushrod valve actuation used since the Corvette's birth over 60 years and it would have either a dual-overhead camshaft or DOHC. However, this confirmation is still awaited.

The leaked description hints for ENGINE GAS CYL, 6.2L, SIDI, DOHC, VVT, ALUM, GM listed as a Y code that will only be for the Corvette dubbed the LT5. As per Digital Trends, the upcoming  LT5 engine series is said to be much different than other Corvette engines, Rumors also surface that it will have a small low-end grunt alongside a high keenness to rev. Speculations also add that the LT5 will be only the second production Corvette engine without pushrods.

However, General Motors has already surfaced their interest with DOHC engines long back from now. GM's revolutionary piece named C4 ZR-1 was one of the best instances which showcased DOHC based engine mechanism. Reportedly, it was made of Mercury Marine and was also known as LT5. It was one of most trusted engine formula of 90's, especially till 1996.The upcoming LT5 is said to be ultimately ultra modern, powerhoused with terrific efficiency.  All and all, it is now expected to be one of the best masterpieces of 2018 in the racing nation.
