Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe are sharing screen space for "The Mummy," an upcoming horror reboot film, for the first time, even though the two actors have known each for decades. Recent reports from the sets of the film may explain why.

According to an Australian Tabloid New Idea, Crowe and Cruise have been feuding on the sets of their upcoming film, creating a lot of tension. Apparently, the reason for this clash between the actors is due to Cruise's ex-wife, Nicole Kidman.

A source told the publication that Crowe was a fiercely loyal friend and he never forgave Tom for treatment of wife, Nicole, in their marriage of 11 years. The two actors were reportedly good friends when he married Kidman. After their divorce, Crowe joked, that he was a part of their settlement and he went to Nicole.

The source added that Crowe decided to freeze Cruise out of his life, out of loyalty for Kidman. Since then, he has remained protective of her and could not stand Cruise for years.

But recently, Crowe told ET that he has great respect for the actor and he is looking forward to work with him in "The Mummy."

Cruise, on the other hand, revealed that he has known the "Gladiator" actor for the last two decades and they both have been wanting to do a film together since then. He adds that the two will engage in a cool fight, that might explain the rumored tension between the two actors.

Kurtzman told Entertainment Weekly that the "physicality of shooting the fight scene over four days was really intense." The two actors refused to take stunt men or body doubles and insisted on doing the scenes themselves.

However, the actors were really committed and understood how to make the fight seem real without hurting each other. The director added that the two actors were slamming each other into things, it was difficult and extreme to achieve the sequence but enjoyable in the end.

The Mummy hits theaters June 9, 2017.
