"Avatar" actor Sam Worthington has recently handed over his charming Kealia Makai estate in Hawaii to another owner.

The Hollywood star, who portrayed the character named Jake Sully in the box office hit and critically-acclaimed James Cameron 2009 film, has sold the property for $4.2 million, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The 38-year-old film actor reportedly purchased the home and an adjacent six-acre lot, which he also sold for $700,000, for $6.1 million about four years ago. The recent transactions actually gave the actor a whopping loss of $1.2 million in all. The agents who brokered the sale were Barbara Sloan of Coldwell Banker Bali Hai Realty and Michael Schmidt from the same office who represented the buyer of the property.

The outlet did not mention why the actor put the properties in such a great bargain.

Stunning features

The plantacion-themed house, sitting on more than five acres of Kauai, was completely built seven years ago.

The Hawaii home was said to be designed by the 2006 Building Industry Hall of Fame Awardee and widely known architect Charles W. Dickey who graduated in Massachusetts institute of Technology, noted biahawaii.org.

Dickey is popular for his intelligent home designs that allow tradewinds to gain entry within the home and flow inside freely because he is knowledgeable of the weather and climate conditions in Hawaii, added the site. Thus, the architect created residential homes with "large openings and comparatively small wall spaces." Dickey was also able to employ the indoor-outdoor living concept in the tricky region, which usually experiences light drizzles. He did this by reportedly adding lanais or verandas with open but sheltered windows that could protect the inside of the home without closing them.

In Worthington's former residence, a wooden lanai was found highlighting the space. Notable interior details also include wooden flooring and beam lights. Another indoor-outdoor living concept that projects the beauty of the surroundings into the home was a portion of the structure that offers sweeping views of the ocean and the mountains, described the Times.

Other living spaces in the home are two master suites, a kitchen with a dining bar, a lava rock garden, a living room and a dining room.

The 4,400-square-foot home features a total of three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. In addition, a swimming pool and a sun deck add more charm to the property.

Worthington is set to reprise his role as Jake Sully in the Avatar 2 to 4 sequels, which are slated for release yearly, from 2017 to 2019.
