With the 2014 movie season wrapping up, the 2015 will begin with a number of new films entering the marketplace.

The following is a list of the movies to watch in 2015:

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Ten years after Episode III, a new Star Wars film will hit cinemas and will continue the popular saga that defined multiple generations. The new film is a must-watch as it assembles the cast from Episode VI including Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher and brings in some new faces, including Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver. It is also directed by J.J. Abrams, who promised that the film will be more in the vein of the original trilogy. While very little is known about the plot, audiences must hit theaters Dec. 18 to see this movie.

Spectre

Back in 2012, "Skyfall" became the highest-grossing James Bond movie of all time and was a critical darling. In 2015, the Bond series returns with Daniel Craig as Bond and Sam Mendes as the director. Very little is known about the plot, but it is expected to be a dazzling thrill ride with a great cast that includes Lea Seydoux, Monica Bellucci, Christoph Waltz and Ralph Fiennes. The film is expected to hit theaters on Nov. 6, 2015 and promises to be a big hit.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

After a disappointing third installment, Hunger Games fans expect the last installment to be thrilling and unique. The movie tells the story of Katniss Everdeen and District 13 engaging in an all-out revolution against the autocratic Capitol after Katniss is symbolized as the 'Mockingjay.' The movie sees Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Julianne Moore and Donald Sutherland return to their acclaimed roles. While Part 1 was far from the box office hit many expected, it is likely fans of the books will turn out on Nov. 20 when the film is released.

Jurassic World

While the recently released trailer was not of liking to many fans of the original films, this new installment promises to bring the "Jurassic Park" series to a new direction. The film takes place 22 years after the events of Jurassic Park (1993); Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. After 10 years of operation and visitor rates declining, in order to fulfill a corporate mandate, a new attraction is created to re-spark visitors' interest, which backfires horribly. Directed by Colin Trevorrow, who showed promise on his feature "Safety Not Guaranteed," this movie is likely to bring new elements to the franchise and perhaps engage new audiences. "Jurassic World" opens on June 12.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron

After years in production Marvel will finally release the sequel to "The Avengers." The new movie continues the adventures of the superheroes and unites them when a terrible enemy threatens to destroy the world. The new film joins the Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, the Black Widow and Thor and puts them against their biggest adversary yet, Ultron. Additionally, two new superheroes will emerge: Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Starring Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scalett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Elizabeth Olsen and Robert Downey Jr., the film opens on May 1.

Pan

For family audiences who are fans of Peter Pan, director Joe Wright, who is best known for "Atonement" and "Pride and Prejudice," will bring a new tale of the famous story. The new film will tell the story of an orphan who is spirited away to the magical Neverland. There, he finds both fun and dangers, and ultimately discovers his destiny, to become the hero who will be forever known as Peter Pan. The film stars Hugh Jackman, Rooney Mara and Garrett Hedlund and opens on July 24.

Disney's Cinderella (2015)

After a hughly successful year with "Maleficent," Disney turns yet another beloved classic into a live action movie. This time, the film is directed by Kenneth Branagh and, unlike "Maleficent," the film looks to be a direct remake. Starring Helena Bonham Carter and Cate Blanchett, "Cinderella" is slated to open at the Berlin Film Festival and is expected to enchant young female audiences. The movie opens in March.
