“Outlander” announced some big casting news on Monday via social media.

According to a tweet from the "Outlander" Twitter account, Scottish actor Richard Rankin will be on the second season of the hit time travel romance.

Rankin, who has starred in such BBC productions as “Thirteen” and “ The Syndicate,” will be playing Roger Wakefield, the adult version of Reverend Wakefield’s (James Fleet) adopted son.

The 32-year-old actor took to social media to express his enthusiasm about joining the cast, tweeting about it.

Executive Producer Maril Davis seemed happy to just have the casting news out, also expressing her joy on Twitter.

In a recent interview in The Scotsman, Rankin revealed himself to be a consummate professional who was ready to do anything the job required.

For instance, Rankin said he had no problem getting naked for a stage production of “Good With People."

“Getting naked for something like that, I’m all right with, but to do it for any shock factor is pointless,” he said.

Rankin said that he would never stop acting. If he ever won the lottery and never had to worry about money again, he would just look for more chancy roles.

“It would be so liberating, I would just go and do whatever the hell I wanted as an actor,” he said, “It would only give me a bigger appetite to do a wider range of things and be more experimental.”

Season 2 of “Outlander” will premiere in the spring on Starz.
